The Shakespearean Authorship Trust invites you
Looking back to 2014 at the 450th celebrations of Shakespeare’s birth (1564), we consider how much has changed in the authorship question since then. And much has changed! Join us for our members-only online meeting this Saturday. The link is below for paid member-subscribers only.
We will hear from and talk with:
• The latest travails and travels in the public eye from Elizabeth Winkler and the reception of her book, Shakespeare Was a Woman and Other Heresies: How Doubting the Bard Became the Biggest Taboo in Literature.
• Penny McCarthy, author of Pseudonymous Shakespeare: Rioting Language in the Sidney Circle, will speak on her thesis that the plays were written by William Shakespeare, but much earlier than has been previously accepted.
• Dr. Ros Barber will tell us about the impact of her Coursera mooc (Massive Online Open Course), called “Introduction to Who Wrote Shakespeare.” (www.coursera.org/learn/shakespeare)
• Dr. Barber will also update us on the latest developments in the game-changing impact of computational stylistics on authorship attribution.
• We will listen to some passages of “Shakespearean” eloquence from Annabel Leventon, Sir Derek Jacobi, and Richard Clifford.
We look forward to seeing you there!
